The Organization

Hobie Fleet 295 is the local chapter of the North American Hobie Cat Association (NAHCA). Fleet 295 is part of Division 16 of the NAHCA which covers upstate and western New York as well as northwestern Pennsylvania and Ontario Canada. The goal of Fleet 295 is to promote the sailing and racing of Hobie Cats. Fleet 295 hosts an annual NAHCA sanctioned regatta which draws competitors from Massachusetts to Michigan and Virginia to Canada. Since 1978, the regattas also served as an NAHCA regional an national championship events.

The Membership

Fleet 295 holds monthly general membership meetings . The Fleet has members from the greater Rochester and Finger Lakes region of New York. The meetings are used to plan the annual regatta, fleet racing, year-round social activities and community service events. The membership is comprised of families and individuals possessing diverse backgrounds and a singular love of catamaran sailing. . From May through September the fleet members participate in HCA Division 16 regattas as well as many regional HCA and open class regattas.  Follow this link for images of past regattas >>> Photo Gallery

Fleet members sail their cats on Lake Ontario as well as many of the bays and smaller lakes in the area. Many of the Fleet's members also belong to the "Lighthouse Beach Cat Club" (LBCC) or the Pultneyville Mariners. The LBCC is an informal organization of beach catamaran sailors who lease a private beach on Lake Ontario west of Rochester in Hilton, NY. The Pultneyville Mariners are a small yacht club located east of Rochester in Pultneyville, NY.

The fleet publishes a newsletter during the first week of each month which contains meeting minutes and information of general interest the general membership.
