Racing Clinic – Plans for the learn-to-race clinic are beginning to solidify. We have at least six people interested in participating. If you are interested and have not let me know, please do so as soon as possible. The format will be two to three off-the-water meetings starting in late April followed by two to three on-water clinics in late May and early June. The goal of this clinic is to get the participants to the point where they feel confident racing in fleet events and possibly the regatta. We will cover racing rules, course layout, starting techniques, mark rounding, tactics, boat tuning and anything else needed to become a proficient racer. We will spend time tuning the boats on the beach, practicing starting, mark roundings, tacking and other boat handling techniques on-the-water.

The beach committee is in the final stages of formalizing our by-laws and rules. The by-laws explain the relationship between the beach and fleet and the rules are simply common sense rules of conduct for the beach. Be aware that everyone keeping a boat at the beach will be required to show proof of insurance prior to bringing the boat to the beach. You will be required to attend one of these information meetings before you can bring your boat to the beach! Put it on your calendar!

Club racing will be Tuesday night. The Preparatory flag ill be at 6:15 PM. All participants should be on the water and prepared to start at this time. In order to participate in club racing you must sign up to be race committee and refreshment provider at least once. |
